Rockbuster Stealth LLC
Rockbuster Stealth LLC is a movie rental company in transition from brick-and-mortar stores to one virtual movie rental service. In order to remain competitive in the video rental market, Rockbuster needs help launching a strategy by answering a few business intelligence questions.
Key Analysis Questions

-
Which movies contributed the most/least to revenue gain?
-
What was the average rental duration for all videos?
-
Which countries are Rockbuster customers based in?
-
Where are customers with a high lifetime value based?
-
Do sales figures vary by geographic region? Movie genre?
The Process
Challenges
-
Time-related data is provided but was hardly included in the analysis.
-
Resolution: Rather than using time-related data for the rental duration, also analyze the growth in rentals (by genre, countries, stores, and movie rating) over time!
-
-
I had a challenge navigating various new platforms: PostgreSQL for general queries, DbVisualizer for the ERD, Tableau for the Storyboard, and GitHub for this repository.
-
Resolution: Practice makes (almost) perfect. The more exposure and practice I had with these platforms, the more comfortable and at ease I felt to continue with the main course – analysis.

Recommendations
-
I recommend Rockbuster to supply more Sports, Sci-Fi, and Animation movies as they gross the most Sales among its customer base.
-
Also, out of all genres, Thriller movies need to be either removed completely or rebranded with promotions and newer releases in order to catch up to other genres’ Sales.
-
Because Asia is Rockbutser’s largest customer base, I recommend marketing and catering to their audiences.
-
Finally, institute shorter rental durations and customer loyalty, so that movies may be rented out more frequently with additional Rockbuster perks!
